Obituary of Adela Escobar

Adela Escobar Adela Escobar, a resident of Beacon, entered into rest Friday, March 25, 2011 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie. She was 74. Daughter of the late Cristobal Escobar and Ramona Herrera, she was born February 23, 1937 in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Adela was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend who enjoyed playing bingo with family and friends. She enjoyed family gatherings and especially loved cooking for her family, friends and neighbors. Survivors include her children, Raymond, Sammy, Terri, Jorge, Lissette, Clary, Luis, Maria, and Glenda; several brothers and sisters, thirty grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 30, 2011 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday, March 31 from 9 to 11 a.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main St., Wappingers Falls, NY, 12590. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home on Thursday. Interment will be in Wappingers Rural Cemetery, West Main Street, Wappingers Falls. Memorial donations may be made to one of Adela's favorite charities; St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
