Obituary of Vincent A. Paino

Vincent A. Paino, Jr. Vincent A. "Butch" Paino, Jr., a longtime Wappingers Falls resident entered into rest Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital, Newburgh Campus. He was 71. Son of the late Vincent A. and Mary Masciola Paino, Sr., he was born February 27, 1940 in Beacon. On April 18, 1964 at St. Mary's Church in Wappingers Falls he married the former, Carol Ann Areno. Mrs. Paino preceded him in death May 17, 2002. Butch attended Wappingers Central Schools and proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. He was honorably discharged in 1962. He was a former Police Officer with the Village of Wappingers Falls. Butch was the owner and operator of Paino's Mobil and Paino's Towing and Recovery in Wappingers Falls. Butch was an active parishioner of St. Mary's Church, Wappingers Falls. He was a life member of W.T. Garner Engine Company in Wappingers Falls and a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 1646 in Wappingers Falls. He was an active Charter member in the Rotary Club of Wappingers Falls, where he was past president twice and advisor to the Interact Club at Roy C. Ketcham High School. He also proudly sponsored Paino's little league team for the Town of Wappinger. Survivors include his children, Stephen Paino and his wife, Dawn of Wappingers Falls, Deborah Novick and her husband, Martin, Jr. of Wappingers Falls, Christine Gemmel and Thomas Gemmel of Tampa, Florida, Nancy Paino and Joel Petrus of Fishkill; his brother, Ronald Paino and his wife, Jeanne of Wappingers Falls; his brother-in-law, Eugene Marks of Hyde Park; his grandchildren, Kevin Paino, Sean Paino, Ava Paino, Emily Paino, Alyssa Novick, Courtney Novick, Breanna Gemmel, and Emma Gemmel as well as numerous adoring nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by his sisters, Dolores Marks and Antoinette Imus and his brother-in-law, Richard Imus. Family will receive their friends from 6 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, April 14, 2011 and Friday, April 15 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 16 at St. Mary's Church, Clinton Street, Wappingers Falls. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Wappingers Falls. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Mary's Church, 11 Clinton Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590 or to Vincent Paino Scholarship Fund, c/o Community Foundation of Dutchess County, 80 Washington St., Suite 201, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601.
