Obituary of Harold Clark Messerich

Harold Clark Messerich Harold Clark Messerich, a seventy-one year resident of Wappingers Falls and formerly of Beacon and Fishkill, entered into rest Saturday, May 14, 2011 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie. He was 87. Son of the late Anthony C. and Regina Santsaver Messerich, he was born April 18, 1924 in Beacon. He married the former Geraldine Knapp on June 29, 1957 at the First Presbyterian Church in Beacon. Mrs. Messerich preceded him in death on October 25, 2009. Harold proudly served his country in the United States Army, Big Red One Division during World War II. After campaigns primarily in Italy, he was honorably discharged in 1945. Prior to his retirement in 1986, Harold worked for IBM in Poughkeepsie for twenty-two years. He was a life member of the Black Rock Fish and Game Club, a member of the Southern Dutchess and Putnam Sportsman Association, a life member of the NRA and a member of the New York New Jersey Trail Conference. Survivors include his sons, Timothy George and Jeffrey Clark both of Wappingers Falls; his sister, Dorothy Pardee of Wappingers Falls and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by his brothers, Robert and Donald Messerich. Family will receive their friends on Friday, May 20, 2011 from 9 to 11 a.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 E. Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590. Interment will follow in the family plot in Fishkill Rural Cemetery, Route 9, Fishkill. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Harold's name to Black Rock Fish and Game Club, PO Box 142 Mountainville, NY 10953.
