Obituary of Virginia M. Browne

Virginia M. Browne Virginia M. Browne, a longtime resident of Poughkeepsie, entered into rest Thursday, May 19, 2011 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie. She was 88. Daughter of the late Charles and Irene Brown Williams, she was born October 31, 1922 in Poughkeepsie. She married James W. Chiavaroli on October 5, 1941. Mr. Chiavaroli preceded her in death in 1960. She married Robert K. Browne on December 15, 1961. Mr. Browne preceded her in death in 2006. Virginia worked as a cashier for Dutchess County Department of Social Services for fifteen years until her retirement. She was a longtime volunteer with Hospice. She was also an avid quilter, belonging to the Skyll Kill Chapter of the Embroidery Guild of America as well as First Dutchess Quilters. Survivors include her children, Kent J. Chiavaroli and his wife, Gail of Hopewell Junction, Gary Browne and his wife, Carol of Wappingers Falls, Richard Chiavaroli and his wife, Cherie of Maine and Vicki Lynn Braun of Florida; her sister, Joan Viglione of Poughkeepsie; her grandchildren, Julie Poplees of Hyde Park, Jason Chiavaroli of Jackson Corners, Scott Chiavaroli, Steven Chiavaroli and Nicole Chiavaroli all of Wappingers Falls, Ryan Browne of Wappingers Falls, Aaron Browne of Hyde Park, Michael Pelton of Texas, and David Pelton of Washington; her great-grandchildren, Luke, Tirzah, Aidan, Mikayla, Kayla, Ashley, and Brandon; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husbands, she was predeceased by her brothers, Chip and Don. Family and friends will gather at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 24, 2011 for graveside services at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery, South Avenue, Poughkeepsie. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Virginia's name may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105.
