Obituary of Norman W. Stickle
Norman W. "Bill" Stickle, a lifelong resident of this area, died Thursday, December 25, 2014 at his home at Lutheran Care Center, Poughkeepsie, New York.
Born on December 1, 1928, he was the son of Norman R. and Edith E. (Curran) Stickle. He was predeceased by his loving wife, the former Dorothy M. Hamilton, whom he married on October 1, 1950 at Zion Episcopal Church in Wappingers Falls. Bill is survived by his five children and their spouses: William and Eileen Stickle of Wappingers Falls, Nancy and Michael Harris of Wendell, North Carolina, Laurie and James Selage of Eustis, Florida, N. Robert and Cathy Stickle of Wesley Chapel, Florida, and Jennifer and Christopher Wimmers of Pleasant Valley. He is survived by 14 grandchildren and their spouses: Jeffrey and Wendy, Brian and Amber, and Kevin and Nicole Stickle, Jessica and John Cruise, Megan Harris, Christina Selage, Joseph and Bethany Selage, Robert, Lea and Rachael Stickle, and Courtney, Thomas, Kathrine and Benjamin Wimmers. He is also survived by 9 great-grandchildren: Amelia and Oliver Stickle, Nathaniel and Reagan Stickle, Andrew Stickle, Jaylie and John Cruise, Ayden Ward, and Corey Lock.
A graduate of Wappingers High School, Bill was employed by the New York Telephone Company for 35 years, retiring in 1985. His lifelong passions were football, especially the NY Giants, and his canine companions. We send a special thank you to Marilyn for welcoming "Rusty" into her home.
The family would also like to thank everyone at Lutheran Care Center, especially the care givers on 2 South who treated our dad with much care and compassion.
Family will receive friends on Monday, December 29, 2014 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at Zion Episcopal Church, 12 Satterlee Place in Wappingers Falls. Interment will follow at Wappingers Rural Cemetery, West Main Street, Wappingers Falls.
