Obituary of Jeanne Martell

Jeanne Martell Jeanne Martell, a longtime area resident, entered into rest Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie. She was 84. Daughter of the late Harry and Bella Treschnell, she was born October 24, 1926 in Brooklyn. She married Richard M. Martell in 1946. After forty-two years of marriage, Mr. Martell preceded her in death on June 1, 1989. Jeanne was formerly active with the Wappingers Seniors where she liked to spend time with friends playing cards. She also enjoyed bowling and ceramics. Survivors include her children, Georgette Martin of Poughkeepsie and Les Martell and his wife, Eileen of Holly Springs, North Carolina; her brother, Stanley Treschnell of California; her three grandchildren, Heath Martin and Sean and Patrick Martell as well as several nephews, great-nephews and one great-niece. Family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, June 16, 2011 at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, June 17 at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Wappingers Rural Cemetery, West Main Street, Wappingers Falls.
