Robert M. Kluess
Robert M. Kluess, a resident of The Terraces of Brookmeade in Rhinebeck and formerly a 57 year resident of Wappingers Falls, entered into rest Monday, July 4, 2011. He was 86.
Son of the late Robert S. and Rae Levy Kluess, he was born July 12, 1924 in Brooklyn.
He was a WWII veteran and served in the Navy on the Destroyer USS Franks.
He graduated from Ohio State University in 1948 with a degree in electrical engineering and was employed by IBM for 39 years retiring in 1987.
Robert was a longtime member of The Lion's Club and The American Legion. He was also an avid handball player and a longtime member of All Sport in Fishkill. He enjoyed the beach and fishing and spent many summers in Southampton, NY.
On March 1, 1952 he married Joan Trouton at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Astoria, NY. Mrs. Kluess, his wife of 59 years, survives at home in The Terraces of Brookmeade in Rhinebeck, NY.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, Robert G. Kluess of Hopewell Junction, NY and Dr. Brian Kluess of Seattle, WA, his daughters, Joanne Dickson and her husband Craig of Pleasant Valley, NY and Nancy Carbine Of Wappingers Falls, NY, his grandchildren, Jacqueline DeLuca of Cohoes, NY and Bobbi Jo Klitch of Tampa, FL.
He was predeceased by his brother Stanley Kluess.
Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, July 7, 2011 at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 8th at the funeral home. Interment will be at 11 a.m. on Monday July 11, 2011 in Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery with Military Honors.
