Obituary of Joan E. Mckenna

Joan E. McKenna Joan E. McKenna, a resident of Port St. Lucie, Florida and formerly of Poughkeepsie, entered into rest Saturday, August 13, 2011 at her home. She was 67. Daughter of the late Mary and William Meyer, she was born March 18, 1944 in the Bronx. She graduated from St. Helena Business School, Bronx in 1961. On September 22, 1961, she married James P. McKenna at St. Simon Stock Church in the Bronx. Mr. McKenna preceded her in death on May 25, 1991. Joan was a hairdresser and prior to her retirement had worked for Supercuts in Wappingers Falls, Killeen, Texas and Stuart, Florida. She is survived by her children, Allison McKenna of Port St. Lucie, Florida, Michael McKenna of Garnerville, New York and Stacey Maher and her husband, Steve of Wappingers Falls; her sisters, Connie McIntyre and her husband, James of Seaside Heights, New Jersey and Virginia Butts of Monroe; her grandson, Jordan and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her sisters, Barbara Turissini and Nancy Varas and her brother, William Meyer. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday, August 19, 2011 at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 20 at St. Mary's Church, Clinton Street, Wappingers Falls.
