Obituary of Josephine F. Riley

Josephine F. Riley Josephine F. Riley a lifelong resident of Wappingers Falls, entered into rest Sunday, June 5, 2005 at Hudson Haven Care Center, Wappingers Falls. She was 84. Daughter of the late Joseph and Vincenzina DeMare Valentino, she was born March 18, 1921 in Wappingers Falls. She was a graduate of Wappingers Falls High School. On August 19, 1974 in Wappingers Falls, she married William J. Riley. Mr. Riley preceded her in death July 24, 1983. Mrs. Riley worked for Marshall and Sterling Insurance Company in Wappingers Falls for twenty years, retiring on May 24, 1983. She was very active in the Village of Wappingers Falls. She was on the Wappingers Falls Planning Board, serving as secretary for ten years; the Wappingers Falls Democratic Party, serving as secretary for ten years, a member of the Picnic in the Park Committee for fifteen years, a volunteer for Meals on Wheels in Wappingers Falls. She was also a member of the Wappingers Elks BPOE # 2609 Ladies Auxiliary, a member of the Victor L. Bracone VFW Post # 5913 Ladies Auxiliary where she was formerly treasurer for twenty years. Mrs. Riley was a member of Zion Episcopal Church, Wappingers Falls where she was a member of the Women of Zion. Survivors include her three sons, Anthony A. Cerino, Jr. of Sanford, Florida, Kenneth J. Cerino of Enfield, Connecticut, and Richard A. Cerino of Wappingers Falls; two sisters, Rose Fusaro of Longmeadow, Massachusetts, and Loretta Hackett of Huntersville, North Carolina; one brother, Vincent Valentino of Wappingers Falls; three grandchildren, Angela Doyle, Anthony Arthur Cerino, III and Matthew C. Cerino; and several nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by three sisters, Angelina Giamportone, Eleanor Goetchius and Anna Fusaro and three brothers, Carmine, Dominic and Albert Valentino. Visitation will be from 3-5 and 7-9 pm on Thursday, June 9, 2005 at Straub Funeral Home, 55 E. Main Street, Wappingers Falls. A Funeral Service will be held at 10 am on Friday, June 10 at Zion Episcopal Church, Satterlee Place, Wappingers Falls with Mother Ginger Grab officiating. Interment will follow in Wappingers Rural Cemetery, West Main Street, Wappingers Falls. Memorial donations on Mrs. Riley's behalf may be made to Ladies Auxillary of Victor L.
