Obituary of Gerard K. Groark

Gerard K. "Jerry" Groark Gerard K. "Jerry" Groark, a longtime resident of Hopewell Junction, entered into rest Tuesday, June 21, 2005 at St. Luke's Roosevelt Hospital, Manhattan. He was 58. Son of Gertrude Maurinac of Beacon and the late John Groark, he was born November 25, 1946 in the Bronx. He proudly served his country from 1964 to 1967 in the United States Navy on the U.S.S. Saratoga. Jerry was a Technical Director for ABC Television, New York City, for 37 years. He was active with P.E.A.R.L., Carmel as well as a volunteer with Friends of Seniors. He was also a member of the 44 Forever Club-NYPD. Jerry was the most giving, caring and loving person to all he knew. He will be greatly missed by all, family, friends and co-workers. He was the best "Fix-It" Man to many, as well as event photographer, computer whiz and ace auto mechanic. In addition to his mother, Jerry is survived by his loving fiancee, Susan Kroohs at home in Hopewell Junction; his two daughters, Laurie Greene and her husband, Dennis of Poughkeepsie and Stacey Groark of Poughkeepsie; his step-daughter, Jill Fitzpatrick and her husband, Sean of Wake Forrest, North Carolina; his grandchildren, Lindsay, Ethan and Camryn Greene and Skylar Fitzpatrick; his stepbrother, David Maurinac of the Bronx; his aunt, Audrey Church; his uncle Emroy Groark and several cousins. His father, John preceded him in death in 1950. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 pm on Thursday, June 23, 2005 at Straub Funeral Home, 55 E. Main Street, Wappingers Falls. A Funeral Service will be held at 8 pm on Thursday at the funeral home.
