Obituary of Rose Anne Dougherty

Rose Anne Dougherty Rose Anne Dougherty of Poughkeepsie entered into rest Friday, August 4, 2006 at Eden Park Health Care Center in Poughkeepsie. She was 73. Daughter of the late Grover G. and Grace M. Rose Miller, she was born on March 1, 1933 in LaCygne, Kansas. After high school, Mrs. Dougherty moved to Denver, Colorado where she worked as a secretary for a hardware company. It was there that she was introduced to her future husband, Nicholas Dougherty. They were married on April 24, 1953, just six weeks after they met; they remained happily married for 53 years, until Nicholas' death on June 19, 2006. After marriage, Rose Anne chose to devote her life to making a home for her husband and their three daughters. She always showed strength and determination; her "true self" shined in her quick witted humor. Survivors include her daughters, Carol Anne Wilson and her husband, Peter Schultz, Catherine Robertson and Candace Metzler and her husband, Kurt; her grandchildren, Rebecca Wilson and her husband, Tony Francis, Emily Robertson, Renee Robertson, Kurt Metzler and his wife, Katrina and Tom Metzler and his wife, Angie; her great-grandchildren, Alyssa Wilson, Christopher Metzler, Billy Metzler and Savanna Metzler; and several nieces and nephews. Rose Anne is predeceased by her siblings, Lorain, Ethel Marie, Cleve and Veda May. Family will receive their friends on Monday, August 7 from 4-7 p.m. at Straub Funeral Home, 55 E. Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590. A funeral service will follow visitation at 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will take place on Tuesday in the family plot in Wysox Cemetery, Wysox, Pennsylvania. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Rose Anne's name to Shriner's Hospitals for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607 or a charity of one's choice.
