Obituary of Louis J. D'Amicantonio

Louis J. D'Amicantonio Louis J. D'Amicantonio of the Town of Poughkeepsie entered into rest Monday, February 26, 2007 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. He was 80. Son of the late Angelo and Nazzarena Pettinichi D'Amicantonio, he was born on February 26, 1927 in Berwyn, Pennsylvania. He was married to the former Ellen T. Barry; she survives at home. Mr. D'Amicantonio grew up in Wayne, Pennsylvania, playing football for and graduating from Radnor High School in 1945. He proudly served his country in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. Following his service he attended and graduated from Villanova University in 1951. He went on to work for IBM in Philadelphia and later, in East Fishkill as a systems analyst; he retired in 1987. Louis was also a member of IBM's Quarter Century Club. In addition to his wife Helen, he is survived by his children, Ellen Braren and her husband, Mark of Tilson, John D'Amicantonio of Brazil, Thomas D'Amicantonio and his wife, Christine of Poughkeepsie and Michael D'Amicantonio and his wife, Patricia of Poughkeepsie; seven grandchildren, Michael Braren, Megan Berean and Matthew, Allysa, Ryan, Nicholas and Samantha D'Amicantonio; one great-grandson, Reid Louis Berean; and two nephews and one niece. He is predeceased by his brother, Filomeno D'Amicantonio. Family will receive their friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 on Friday, March 2, 2007 at Straub Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Saturday, March 3rd at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, Clinton Street in Wappingers Falls. Interment will be held in the spring. In lieu of flowers, memorials donations may be made in Louis' name to Hospice of Dutchess County, 374 Violet Avenue, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601.
