Feron, III a resident of the Town of Poughkeepsie entered into rest Saturday, June 8, 2007 at his residence.. He was 73,. Son of the late Stephen J. Feron, Jr. and Edith Montgomery Feron he was born August 23, 1933 in Tarrytown, New York. He was also the grandson of the late Stephen J. Feron, who was the World's Open Squash-Tennis Champion 1903-1905. He was a graduate of Roslyn High School, Long Island, Adelphi University and received his Masters Degree and took advanced credit courses at SUNY New Paltz. On June 25, 1967 he married the former Mary Hill at St. James Episcopal Church in Hyde Park, New York. Mrs. Feron survives at home. Before beginning his teaching career Steve worked in his family's tennis business S J Feron, Inc. in Manhattan. For three years he taught in Amityville, Long Island and later taught in the Wappingers Central School District for 30 years as a sixth grade teacher in Gayhead and then in Van Wyck, Jr. High School. In addition to his wife, Mary he is survived by his two sons, Stephen J, Feron, IV and his wife Jill of South Hamilton, Mass. and Timothy Feron of Poughkeepsie, his grandchildren Benjamin, Andrew and Christopher Feron of South Hamilton, Mass. and his sister Joan Reese of West Palm Beach, Florida. Family will receive their friends from 2 to 4 pm on Sunday June 11, 2007 at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590. A Funeral Service will be held at 11 am Monday June 12 at Hughsonville Presbyterian Church, Route 9D, Hughsonville. Burial will follow in the Wappingers Rural Cemetery Route 9D, Wappingers Falls.
