Obituary of Buhl F. Beach

Buhl F. Beach Buhl F. Beach of Wappingers Falls entered into rest Thursday, June 14, 2007 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie. He was 83. Son of the late Buhl F. Beach, Sr. and Annette Gray Beach, he was born in Jamaica, Long Island. He married the former Elizabeth Passmore Lozier on October 17, 1976 at the First Presbyterian Church in Wappingers Falls; Betty survives at home. After graduating from Croton-Harmon High School, Buhl served his Country in the United States Marine Corps in the South Pacific. When he returned, he worked as a conductor for New York Central, Penn Central, Conrail and finally MetroNorth; he retired in 1984 after 42 years of service. Mr. Beach was involved in various organizations and societies. He was a member of Malcolm Hunter Masonic War Veterans, Post 53 in Wappingers Falls, member and past president of Dutchess County Shrine Club of Cypress Temple of the Valley of Albany, member of Railroad Retirees, past member of Collabergh Masonic Lodge #859 in Croton-on-the-Hudson, and member of the VFW in Wappingers Falls. In addition to his wife, Betty, at home, he is survived by his daughter, Theresa Clark and her husband, Steve of Waynesville, NC; step-son, Paul F. Lozier of Madison, NJ; brother, Robert T. Beach of Mobile, AL; grandchildren, Cathleen Lombardi and her husband, Joseph of Canton, NC, and Danielle and Samuel Lozier of Madison, NJ; great-grandchildren, Tessie and Andrew Lombardi; and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brother, William Beach. Family will receive their friends on Sunday, June 17 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590. A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Monday, June 18 at the funeral home with Rev. Cathy Surgenor presiding. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Newburgh. Memorial donations may be made in Buhl's name to a charity of one's choice.
