George C. Rose
George C. Rose, a resident of the Town of Poughkeepsie, entered into rest Friday, April 18, 2008 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center, Poughkeepsie. He was 78.
Son of the late Anthony and Ceararina Casalena Rose, he was born April 26, 1929 in the Bronx.
On April 15, 1954 at Holy Rosary Church in the Bronx he married the former Christine "Tina" DeCarlo. Mrs. Rose survives at home in Poughkeepsie. George proudly served his country during the Korean War aboard the U.S.S. F.D.R. He was honorably discharged in 1951. Prior to his retirement, he owned and operated George's Pool Service in Briarcliff Manor. He was a parishioner of St. Columba Church, Hopewell Junction. George enjoyed playing Bingo and was an avid Yankee's fan. Most importantly he loved his family and the time he spent with them cooking and sharing homemade Italian food.
In addition to his wife of fifty-three years, Christine "Tina" Rose, he is survived by his children, Debbi Scampoli and her husband, Billy of Islip, New York, Anthony Rose and his wife, Diane of Coral Springs, Florida, Martin Rose and his fianc�, Gail Urbach of Bethel, Connecticut, Donna Yaros and her husband, David of Poughkeepsie, George Rose and his wife, Lisa of Monroe, Connecticut, Michael Rose and his wife, Gina of Hopewell Junction, Joseph Rose and his wife, Jennie of Franklin Square, New York and Diane Rose of Atlanta, Georgia; his sister-in-law, Concetta Rose; his nineteen grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Frank and Dante Rose.
Family will receive their friends on Sunday, April 20, 2008 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm at Straub, Catalano and Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 am on Monday, April 21 at St. Columba Church, 835 Route 82, Hopewell Junction, New York.
Entombment will follow in Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery, South Avenue, Poughkeepsie.
Memorial donations on George's behalf may be made to the National Kidney Foundation, 30 East 33rd Street, New York, NY 10016.
