Obituary of Michael T. McCarthy

Michael T. McCarthy Michael T. McCarthy, a resident of the Town of Poughkeepsie, entered into rest Thursday, December 2, 2010 at his home. He was 82. Son of the late Michael J. and Ethel Allen McCarthy, he was born November 11, 1928 in Manhattan. On December 18, 1948 in St. Denis Church in Yonkers, he married the love of his life, Kay Roche. Mrs. McCarthy survives at home in Poughkeepsie. Prior to his retirement Mike worked as a foreman with Metro North in Croton Harmon for forty-six years. He was a parishioner at Holy Trinity Church in Poughkeepsie. In addition to his wife, Kay, he is survived by his children, Michael T. McCarthy, Jr. and his wife, Marie of New Port Richey, Florida, Eileen C. Wheeler and her husband, Gary of Wappingers Falls, Timothy M. McCarthy and his wife, Maureen of Wappingers Falls, Debra C. Wright and her husband, Keith of Wappingers Falls and Joseph M. McCarthy of Wappingers Falls; his sister, Jane Geoghegan of California; his eleven grandchildren, his two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Donald M. McCarthy on July 30, 2004, his sisters, Evelyn and Margaret and brother, Bernard. Family will receive their friends and family on Monday, December 6, 2010 +from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 7 at 10 a.m. at Holy Trinity Church, Main Street, Poughkeepsie. Interment will follow in the family plot in Wappingers Rural Cemetery, West Main Street, Wappingers Falls.
