I'm so sorry to hear this news..and I pray for your family to be strong in their time of need..
I went to grade school with Joey, and we were pals for many of those years gone by..in fact, I think he was the one who got help for me when I got hit by a station wagon up next to PS 29..
He will not be forgotten..

I was stunned to learn of Joey's passing. My prayers go out to his wife, children, sisters and friends who will no doubt miss him terribly. I met Joey on my very first day of kindergarten. He had white blond hair and a big smile. In all the years I knew he he was always the same - a genuinely nice person. I remember seeing him probably fifteen or so years ago at the Candlelight. I had not seen him in years but he was still the same sweet guy he was as a child. I remember asking him about an unfinished tattoo he had on his arm. I asked him why it wasn't finished and Joey, this big, tough looking, biker dude with multiple tattoos said, "Cuz it hurts getting these done!" It was so funny!
The world lost one of the good guys. May he rest in peace.

Joe had a heart of gold. I'd like to share one example of his character. My uncle and mother were returning from the hardware store with some plywood. The plywood fell off the truck and was strewn all over the road. The only person to stop and help two senior citizens happened to be Joe. He was a great person, and I'm proud to have known him. Rest in peace my old friend.
