Obituary of Joseph Sroka

Joseph Sroka, a resident of Wappingers Falls and former lifelong resident of Yonkers, entered into rest Friday, October 7, 2011 at Putnam Hospital Center in Carmel. He was 46. Son of the late Josef and Katharina Heinenbernd Sroka, he was born June 22, 1965 in Yonkers. He married the former Ellen Mahoney on June 29 in Yonkers. Mrs. Sroka survives at home in Wappingers Falls. Joe was a driver with Local 456 in Elmsford and was a member of the Yonkers Motorcycle Club. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Joseph Sroka of Wappingers Falls, twin girls Samantha and Bridgette Sroka of Wappingers Falls and Michael Pierro of Hawthrone; his sisters, Helga LaCava of Florida and Melanie June and her husband, Charlie of New Hampshire; his brother-in-law, Patrick Mahoney of White Plains; his nephews, Brendon and Andrew June; his nieces, Cassandra LaCava, Alicia Zink, Natalie and Kristie June; and his grandniece, Danica June. Family and friends will remember Joe on Monday, October 10, 2011 from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Wappingers Falls VFW, 8 School Street, Wappingers Falls. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the VFW Post 5913, 8 School Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590 Arrangements are under the direction of Straub, Catalano and Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls.
