Obituary of Lawence A. Gambino

Lawrence A. Gambino, a resident of Garrison entered into rest Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at home. He was 64. Son of the late John and Ella Iovino Gambino, he was born December 26, 1947 in Manhattan. On May 27, 1972 he married the love of his life, the former Ellen Boyle at Zion Epsicopal Church in Wappingers Falls. Mrs. Gambino survives at home in Garrison. Larry was a proud veteran of the US Navy. A businessman and entrepreneur for many years, he has been teaching business for the last five years at Dutchess Community College and Westchester Community College. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Michael Gambino of Boston, Massachusetts and Christine Schmitt and her husband, Kristopher of LaGrange; his beloved grandson, Collin Schmitt; his brother, Steven Gambino; his sister, Joanne Gambino-Eves; as well as many loving family members and friends. Family will receive friends on Sunday, October 28, 2012 from 2 to 6 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main St., Wappingers Falls, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. on Monday, October 29 at Our Lady of Lorretto Church, Fair Street, Cold Spring. Interment will follow in Cold Spring Cemetery, Peekskill Road in Cold Spring. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Larry's name may be made to Wounded Warrior Project, PO BOX 758517, Topeka, KS 66675.
