Obituary of Susan J. Barton

Susan J. Barton, a resident of Milton, entered into rest Friday, December 6, 2013 at her home. She was 55. Daughter of the late William and Kathryn Osoba Gilbert, she was born July 31, 1958 in Cold Spring. She graduated from Beacon High School in 1976 and went on to graduate with a Bachelor's Degree from SUNY Plattsburgh. She married Richard J. Barton on April 22, 1992 in Hawaii. Mr. Barton survives at home. Prior to her retirement, Sue worked as IST team lead for z/OS testing at IBM where she was a member of the Quarter Century Club. She was an avid Yankees fan. She enjoyed reading and loved going to the beach. She treasured time she spent shopping and having lunch with her daughter and truly loved her grandchildren, family and friends. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Sara Morse and her husband, Ronald of Staatsburg, Richard J. Barton, Jr. and his wife, Brianne of Kingston and Christopher M. Barton and his wife, Diana of Poughkeepsie; her siblings, Sandy Furman and her husband, Peter, William Gilbert, Jr. and his wife, Jill and David Gilbert and his wife, Carrie; her grandchildren, Cayson and Madison, Andrew, Brandon and Kara and Christopher, Derek and Michael; as well as several nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 11, 2013 from 9 to 11 a.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls. A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. Interment will follow in Fishkill Rural Cemetery, Route 9, Fishkill. The family would like to thank everyone with Hospice for their kindness, care and support for the past few weeks.
