Norma and family, it was sad to hear about the untimely passing of Eddie. I know that this is a heart breaking time and the emotions are deep on his loss, but I pray that he is with God and resting in Peace. He was a true Boricua who care for the Latino Community and shared our culture with everyone with his smile and joy. He was a good servant of the Lord. Eddie, thank you for all your have done for the community and for your Honorable Service to this Great Nation. R.I.P.

In 2002, Eddie went with me to represent city of Newburgh at NYC Puertorican Day Parade!! He put together a lil salsa band on the back of a pick up and played for us. He continued to represent us even when I could not attend as City Councilwoman. He was so very dedicated to our Puertorican community and was an exemplary model father husband and citizen. His love and loyalty to his Puertorican community will never be matched in the Hudson Valley. I am stunned and so very sad to hear of his passing. RIP
Fuerza y amor a su familia.

Condolences to Norma and the rest of the Ramirez family from Pedro and Yvette Diaz. Ed was an influential and reliable partner in making the Albany LatinFest the success that it was for the past 25 years.

I am so sorry for your family's loss. My heart goes out to you all. Mr. Ramirez was a great guy. I remember being a student at Poughkeepsie Middle School and he came in to speak to all of us. He was a great mentor to many.

I met Eddie nearly 20 years ago. Fairly new to the HV, I walked into his office in Haverstraw but he wasn't in...he missed our appointment so I tracked him down in his office on Broadway...he said "girl, you are persistent...lol". I was looking for a platform to share resources to the community and he immediately gave me an opportunity to write articles in his paper El Sol de NY. That was the beginning of a great friendship. He shared his connections with me, gave me community relations pointers and even offered me an opportunity to join him on many of his community events (as well as giving me a platform to share my love of fitness). He supported all my events via social media, calls and texts...he was a dear friend - our friendship never withered. Eddie, to me, represented all things community and culture. He wanted to show the Hudson Valley and beyond that we can and should be proud to be Latinos. That our music and people were beautiful inside and out. The Hudson Valley will miss Eddie.... I will miss him, his friendship and support. Tell my papi in heaven that I love him. SIP Eddie...

I was fortunate to share a special bond with my beloved brother Edwin. As siblings, children learn from each other, looking for guidance to navigate the family (meaning parents), as well as the life outside the home. We share the love inside the home and learn to love others as well.
Edwin was the oldest sibling; I was the youngest. His love of music taught me to appreciate all genres of music and the love of dancing. The service he gave to his country steered me to serve others and taught me courage. As adults we respected each other’s opinions even if we did not always agree. We consulted each other often about everything from our parents, our spouses, our children, our careers, religion, politics, current events or just the weather. We would bounce ideas off each other just to get another perspective and laugh about some of the whacky thoughts. Edwin had a wonderful sense of humor.
After retiring Edwin often talked about going south and our being neighbors. We both struggled with leaving our children & grandchildren in NY…but we were so tired of the cold. We joked about becoming snowbirds.
My beloved brother Edwin was my hero, my mentor, my confidant, my best friend! I will miss him dearly. My heart is broken. Though there is a void in my heart, I will try to stay the course and provide the same love, joy, and happiness to others that he so abundantly shared with everyone he met.
My consolation is that he is with our dear mother and other family members that have passed before us. I know that this is not a goodbye, for we both shared in a faith that promises there will be a reunion in Heaven where we will rejoice in each other’s company again.
I will always love you,
Your sister Evelyn
