Obituary of Elsie A. Ruppert

Elsie A. Ruppert, 91, a resident of the Red Oaks Mill, Poughkeepsie community for over 60 years, died peacefully at her home on Friday, December 17, 2021.

Daughter of the late Steven Kaiser and Frances (Matyus) August, she was born on December 5, 1930 in McClellandtown, PA. She married Conrad Jack Ruppert on August 19, 1950 in Winchester, VA. Mr. Ruppert preceded her in death, passing on February 14, 2004.

Elsie was a long time and active member of Zion Episcopal Church in Wappingers Falls where she served for many years, including becoming the first woman to be elected Senior Warden. She enjoyed cooking, reading, gardening, and bird-watching in her backyard. Devoted to her family, longtime friendships, and her church, Elsie is an example of a well lived and fruitful life.
Survivors include her son, Conrad Jack Ruppert, Jr. and wife JoAnn of Mahomet, IL; grandchildren, Jessica Munro and husband David of Cary, NC with three great-grandchildren, Alexander, Aiden, and McKenzie, Abigail Hammond of Fairfield, CT, with two great-grandchildren Corinne and Jack, and Matthew Ruppert and wife Danielle Zarella of West Warwick, RI, with one great-grandchild Winslow; brother, Jerome August and wife Katherine of South Salem, NY; and nieces and nephews, Mark Hasson and partner Hanan Rosenberg of Cape Coral, FL, Kurt Hasson and wife Luz of Statesboro, GA, Kathleen Chisar and spouse Christine Martin of Fairview Park, OH, Edward August and wife Jennifer of Fairview Park, OH, and Marjorie Lacovic and husband Damon of Sterling Heights, MI.

In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her daughter, Jacqueline Ruppert Frost and siblings, Joan Hasson, Stephen August and Elaine “Lainey” August.

A memorial service will be held at Zion Episcopal Church on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at 11:00 AM.
