Obituary of Janice M. Schanck
Janice M. Schanck, a resident of Wappingers Falls, entered into heaven Monday, April 18, 2022 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie. She was 68.
Daughter of the late Henry and Helen Wilantowicz Holdner, she was born March 18, 1954 in Yonkers, NY. On July 24, 1976 she married the love of her life Herbert W. Schanck in Yonkers, NY. Herb survives at home in Wappingers Falls.
Janice devoted her life to raising her daughters and taking care of the family home. She enjoyed being outdoors and gardening. She treasured time spent with friends and family, especially her grandchildren. She was a woman of faith and a parishioner of St. Mary’s Church in Wappingers Falls.
In addition to her husband of forty-five years, Herbert W. Schanck, Janice is survived by her daughters, Cheryl Simon and her husband, Matthew Simon and her beloved grandchildren Zachary and Hanna of Boca Raton, Florida and Mary Schanck of Wappingers Falls; her siblings, Marilyn Tillson and her husband, Thomas, Suzanne Yozzo, Elizabeth Tillson and her husband, Timothy, Henry Holdner and his wife, Lyn, and Joyce Fell and her husband, Gregory; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Janice was predeceased by her brother-in-law Gregory Yozzo.
Family will receive friends on Sunday, April 24, 2022 from 2 to 5 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street in Wappingers Falls.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. on Monday, April, 25 at St. Mary’s Church, 11 Clinton Street in Wappingers Falls. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Wappingers Falls.
The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of Hudson Valley Hematology and Oncology for their care and support of Janice for over twenty years. Most recently the family would like to thank doctors, nurses and staff in the ICU at Vassar Brothers Medical Center for their kindness to Janice.
