I am so sorry to learn of John (Skinny) passing. We lived on the corner next to his parents and just down the block from John and Cathy. They made us feel so welcome when we moved there from NC. One of my favorite memories was on of the times that John would bring the band home, park the tour bus on our tiny street and then they would all walk around the village, wearing sunshades, so “no one would recognize them”. Cathy and children thank you for sharing John with us. Randy and Colean Gore

Dear Regan Family,
John was such a humble and kind man. I met John through my parents when I was very young. He always had a way of making everyone feel important, like they were the only one in the room. Whenever I saw him out, whether in Wappingers or at a concert, he always gave me a wave and a kind gesture. Having his grandchildren in school, I know that he came to all of their events and concerts. He loved his family so much. Prayers and my deepest sympathy to his family.
May you be flying with the angels, John. Lisa Candiano Perantoni

My very first encounter with John and The Easy Street Band was at Easy Street and I was 16 (Drinking age was 18 and drivers licensees didn't have photo's) - They went into their version on Love Won't Let Me Wait and for the FIRST TIME EVER I walked up to a very pretty girl and asked her to slow dance and I was shocked when she said yes - Dated here for a couple of months she was 22 but when she found out I was 16 I was dumped - BUT - In our short time together she made me a man and I told that story to John on the air on PDH back in the day and said if it wasn't for him & Reggie I might still be a virgin!!!!

Dear Regan family:
Although I didnt know John as well as everybody else had, he was a wonderful acquaintance to my brother Tom and upon meeting him for the first time some years back, I can see how right my brother was. I found him to be such a humble and down to earth family man putting to rest any pre-notions of someone who has played with major music stars over the years as being high brow, full of themselves and living in extravagance. He was very charming, witty, down to earth and quite politically astute. I can see how much he will be missed by all his friends and especially his family. He will now be joining the vast array of musicians already in heaven as they now have a new member for jam sessions that I'm sure God would listen to. RIP Mr John...RIP...

Although I never had the good fortune of meeting John, it was always easy to see that he possessed a tremendous amount of grace and humility that most musicians never come close to having.
It goes without saying that John was a part of so much enjoyable music, but his interviews are perhaps even more rewarding, because it's a wonderful way for anyone to see how much of a great person he was.
Best wishes to the Regan family and to John's many close friends and allies - I will always remember him very fondly, and I sincerely hope he'll be watching over you.

I first saw John playing in a band (Stone Fox?) at a little church next to the Dutchess County Airport. I remember the band being great and that encouraged me to further pursue my musical career as a guitarist. A few years later John was a judge at the Roy C. Ketcham battle of the bands. My band went on to win that battle and I was proud to know John liked us enough to vote for us. I continued to play for many years and I always followed John's career. I was always so happy for him and thankful for his early encouragement. I am deeply sorry for his loss and send me deepest condolences.

I didn’t know John personally, but I absolutely loved his music.
A few years ago we became Facebook friends. He always took time to wish me a happy birthday, reply to comments, etc. I have literally never engaged with a professional musician that actually took time to engage with their fans as frequently as John did. I think that speaks to his character and genuine kindness to everyone he met throughout his life and career.
I will miss his Sunday morning post and Music is the Night post.
RIP John. You will truly be missed.

I only met John twice. Both at Kiss conventions: First in the 90s, then a few years back. The second time I took my son. John recognized my son from Facebook, and said to the people he was with "Look, it's Alec." John took time to make Alec feel special at the convention. John always took time to wish him a Happy Birthday as well.
If John was that nice to the fans, I can only imagine how he was with people close to him.

A fan of Frank Sinatra like myself I used to look forward to his Sunday with Sinatra posts on Facebook. There are many great Sinatra classics I could post here. I could have used Fly Me To The Moon but to me I'm gonna live till I die is the most appropriate because LIVE HE DID. His talents will live forever in many recordings. All I can say is Thank you John for being a friend
I'm gonna live till I die!
I'm gonna laugh 'stead of cry,
I'm gonna take the town and turn it upside down,
I'm gonna live, live, live until I die.
They're gonna say "What a guy!"
I'm gonna play for the sky.
Ain't gonna miss a thing,
I'm gonna have my fling,
I'm gonna live, live, live until I die.
The blues I lay low,
I'll make them stay low,
They'll never trail over my head.
I'll be a devil, till I'm an angel, but until then Hallelujah.
Gonna dance, gonna fly,
I'll take a chance riding high,
Before my number's up,
I'm gonna fill my cup,
I'm gonna live, live, live, until I die!
The blues I lay low
I'll make them stay low,
They'll never trail over my head.
I'll be a devil, till I'm an angel, but until then Hallelujah.
Gonna dance, gonna fly,
I'll take a chance riding high,

I had the honor of knowing John for close to 60 years! He and I were Safety Patrol Officers on our bus for St. Mary’s Elementary School. I would watch him practice with one of his first bands in the basement of what is now the Seventh Day Adventist Church, as well as go see him play at the Belly of the Whale! Many years later, our paths would cross when I worked at The Chance. I got to say hi to him and Reggie Ward at their last Easy Street show.

Cathy & Family,
Lorraine and I send our deepest condolences on the tragic and sudden loss of John. I grew up in Wappingers with John and our paths crossed numerous times as kids and teens. As we got older and life's directions steered us in different directions, it was always a pleasure to run into John and reminsce about our early Wappingers days and even more fun to listen to his stories about life as a "rock star". He never lost his humility and sense of humor. Judging by the plethora of tributes posted/listed, he carried his personna everywhere he went. We will miss him.

As others here have stated, John made everyone he met feel like they were a friend. While I know John from playing in Peter Frampton’s band (and not like so many of you who have known him from Wappingers and all he did for the community), he made all of us ‘fans’ feel like friends. Especially us long time fans, those of us who went to shows together and hung out afterwards. So often, after a show, John and Bob Mayo would come and hang out with us at a coffee shop or just outside a theater to chat and give a smile and a hug. When we’d be standing in line for a general admission show, they’d come by and spend some time with us, appreciating that we were standing for hours just so that we could get a good seat or spot in the venue for the show. On Facebook, John friended so many that he exceeded his limit….and was apologetic about it, that he couldn’t add everyone!!! He acknowledged every post and gave birthday greetings to everyone and responded to private messages as well. He always had a good word, even if the situation was less than positive. We loved joking with him about cannoli and other good foods! He loved ‘The Ground Round’ and meeting up with his friends there…he often talked about it. And he loved his family, his wife, children and grandchildren, always gushing about their activities and accomplishments. My heart goes out to you and to all of his dear, dear friends that have been lifelong friends. This loss is just unfathomable to you, but believe me, it is felt with great sadness all over the world. I hate having to say this, but RIP John….you left quite a mark on this earth and we will miss you terribly.

John was a true one of kind. He helped me out immensely when I was learning the ropes and was always there to talk, listen, or give advice. Yes we all know he was a fantastic musician but he was so much more than that he was an amazing human. Every time I would speak with john if it was a quiet studio or the packed room at a Namm show John had a way of making you feel like you were the only one in the room while talking with him. You DID wish me happy holidays online just as this obituary says and my favorite saying of yours that I use to this day is “ It’s not what knocks you down , but how you get back up “.

John Reagan- a world class, world touring professional musician, a ROCK STAR-even thou you would not have known it having coffee with him or seeing him on the street, the most humble, unassuming, person you would, could ever meet, who touched so many lives and made this world a better place, not to mention all of us he nurtured in this music business(yours truly included)
He was my hero, mentor, inspiration, believed in me when I didn’t believe in myself, He was a very important musician in my life because he believed in me right from the beginning. That was when I was a true believer in rock music and it was magical and innocent.
I saw him in his many incarnations, from local gig bass slinger, to stadium Rock Star,(even saw him play Saxophone at Mt Alvernia on the steps of the old Colgate mansion that was behind the monastery when we were both REALLY young)

Dear Cathy and family,
Rob and I are so terribly sorry to learn of "Skinny's" passing. We have such great memories of gathering
together for dinners and watching the band through the years. John was a warm and loving man and always
went out of his way to make someone else feel comfortable. We enjoyed his wit and sense of humor. Our
thoughts and prayers are with you all. The "mayor" of Wappingers Falls will be missed for sure.
Love, Cathy and Rob Ahmed

I’m totally heart broken. Anyone who knew John Regan, knows he was the kindest, most humble man, and it was quite an honor to be friends with him. He never let fame define him. He was a talented man, surrounded by a wonderful family and many friends. For the past few years, I would meet John and a few friends every Tuesday morning for breakfast where we would solve the worlds problems, one coffee at a time. We never solved much, but we sure had many laughs. We often talked about music. Two of my band mates (Tom Nastasi and Doug Abramson) would also be in attendance and we would discuss the local band scene with John and also learn of John’s experiences on the road in his days with Peter Frampton and others.
A couple of years ago, I asked John if he wanted to record a few more episodes of Café Italia in my studio and broadcast it over YouTube. We had so much fun doing it, we actually did eight episodes. Every couple of weeks or so, John Regan, Vincenzo Lombardi, and myself would get together and record a show. John would bring some fresh cannoli on occasion, and after recording, we would have some espresso and the pastry. They were great and memorable times together. I’m glad I still have those episodes to listen to in the future.
For a while, John, once a year, did a concert down in Greenville, SC, with an all-star band which included names such as Liberty DeVitto, Jim Peterik, Danny Seraphine, Wally Palmer, Jeff Carlisi, and a slew of other legends, in order to raise money for the Arizona Childrens Charities.
Patti and I would fly down to meet my son, who lives in Greenville, and see John perform, and after the show, hang with these legends that we all grew up listening to. John let my family and I into his real-time performing world and we couldn’t help but realize that the folks he performed with were just like him. He only surrounded himself with good and humble people.
An example of John’s generosity – one Christmas, my son, Nick, drove up from Greenville with his fiancé (now wife). Nick came with me to see the boys for coffee. John and Nick had met a few times before.. Both being bass players they had a mutual bond. John turned to Nick and said “I have a couple of bass cabinets I no longer need. You want them?” Nick drove home with two bass cabinets in his car. To this day, he tells me they are the best sounding speakers he’s ever heard.
Patti and I are devastated -- as well as my sons, Nicholas and Anthony. I know he would want us to move on, but how do you do that? Time will tell. On a personal note, it is rare to have had a friend like John. Wise beyond his years, grounded in family and friends, generous and always there for you if you needed him. When my mother passed a few months ago, he took the time to send me a poem that brought him peace when he lost his own parents. I’ve read it many times to help me deal with my loss, now I must read it again for him. Rest in peace, my friend. My condolences to his wife Cathy, his children, and grandchildren whom I know he loved immensely. It won’t be same without you.

I first met John at Easy Street bar in Hyde Park NY, he was , as far as I know, a great bassist, I later met him when I delivered furniture he had purchased from a local furniture store in Wappingers, he was the nicest guy who tipped me with a 5 dollar bill! This was 40 yrs ago, I followed him and his career ever since, I was around to see him start with Frampton, that was huge! Frampton was a world wide success! Recently discovered that I knew Todd Milan! He's an incredible musician also, well, they hooked up! And I missed it! Dammit! Gonna miss your bday wishes unever forgot! Rock in heaven with brother Reggie! And the rest of the fallen greats! Till we meet again Skinny!

First I would like to say to Cathy and the entire family , I am so very sorry about your loss and pray for strength peace and comfort during this difficult time. It is no coincidence that many of times I have seen John in church praying alone when there were no services being provided. It was simply God showing me what a humble and devout person John was as he was always giving his heart to all. John whom I know as ‘Skinny’ told me so many times how much he admired my dad ,Rick Eckes’ who was also a bassist.. Together they worked diligently on different techniques that ‘Skinny’ was so impressed with. My dad told me what a great musician Skinny was and a wonderful guy! My dad appreciated how they bonded together as musicians often do.It’s funny how the news press will tell the public what the net worth of a person is. In Gods eyes John is worth more than gold i!!! He now plays for the King of Kings!!! We will miss his lively decorations for the holidays and his sincere, down to earth conversations when we would run into him in town. We are very sad you are not here in person but we know you are now getting a world changing event in place with your buddies for the soon coming King!!!’Go get ‘‘em Skinny!!!!

Suz, I couldn't have said this any better. Dad truly enjoyed his wonderful talents and his great personality. I'll always have that one cute memory of when John and Dad were playing in the living room. I said hi, and they both starting playing a riff and laughed. We were all truly blessed to have known you John! You will be truly missed beyond words. Cathy and family, God bless you all.
Thank you sis'

I used to go see John play from the time I was 11. He was 6 years older than I and the bands he played in then inspired me to want to do the same. I first met him at the "Frozen Sun" in Fishkill where a lot of bands would go and play. People would always laugh at me when I asked to sit in since I was only 13. On this occasion they broke down and let me come up and play. Skinny (he'll always be Skinny to me) was in the audience and right after I played he walked on the stage and gave me a glowing endorsement. We then played a song together. Ten years later after many local gigs together we rode to a huge gig where we were on the same bill with Frampton/Winter. A lot of my early memories of getting into the business involve John and I will always treasure them. I am devastated by his passing. Whenever someone significant in my life dies it's as if a piece of me dies with them. Yet, I must go on. Such is life. I've always loved John and always will. My condolences to the family. RIP Skinny. I'll see you on the other side.

Mr. Regan poured so much love into our little village and the lives of all the other folks who also lived there. He was a true steward of our community and I often think fondly of how his appearance in the park to set about stringing up lights was a sure sign that the holidays were approaching. His profound impact on everyone fortunate enough to have known him shows the wealth that comes from a life lived in kindness and service. We are all better for having known him.

I didn't know John personally but he made you feel like a friend. I tried to meet up with him a couple of times for a coffee or whatever when he would come to Miami for a musical event. But time didn't work out. He was so gracious to his friends and fans answering them personally and always with respect and always giving a birthday shout out. I gotta tell you I'm gonna miss this guy and his wit and smile. Prayers to his beautiful wife Cathy and his children. Respect

I have known John (Skinny) as we use to call him since high school. I will pray for your heart to mend and for you to focus on the wonderful memories I am sure you and your family have. I just recently lost my husband and it has been a challenging road ahead. Stay strong and trust in the Lord as I know John did. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

May the Grace of Almighty God shower you with comfort and kindness during this difficult hour. John (Skinny) and I were friends for 60 years. We shared my home. We shared my teen years. He shared my heart even today. I came to the shows in Florida to see him, my wonderful friend, and the music was secondary. I received your hospitality on Park Avenue where I used to live and it was such grace and warmth which was always his essence. Oh how I miss my friend. But, he is with the Savior he loves and who loves him. Rejoice in that and in the joyous life he lived. I still love him so....Cookie Dietl

If ever there is tomorrow when we're not together, there is something you must always remember. You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think. But the most important thing is, even if we're apart, I'll always be with you.
