We still laugh about Father Hickey to this day. He performed my wedding at St Marys in 1991. An amazing man I had the pleasure of knowing. What a great heart and greater sense of humor! He will be missed....

Fr. Hickey became my parish priest when I was a student at SUNY New Paltz. I was faced with a moral family decision and he was so supportive, realistic and kind in helping me make the right decision. I am eternally grateful to him for this. May he rest in peace and my sympathy to his entire family.

I was honored to serve with Fr. Hickey as a fellow VA chaplain. He was a wonderful mentor and companion, whose chaplain skills were most uplifting.
He was missed when he had to resign for health reasons, but now the Almighty will enjoy his heavenly presence.

Our deepest condolences in your loss of such a wonderful man. He always gave my classes his time to explain what it is to be a priest and how they can be a good parishoner when I taught religion ed at St. Mary's for many years. For this I am forever grateful and blessed. May the Lord enter him into HIS kingdom and comfort his loving family and churches families comfort at this time. God Bless you Father Hickey and thank you.

God bless and keep you Joseph. I remember how proud my father, his Uncle Marty, was when he was ordained. At home, we loved his visits and the laughs had over the dinner table. While he did not marry us (we were in Venezuela!) we were fortunate enough to have Father Joe baptize both our girls.

My condolence goes to Father Hickey's family. Father Hickey spent many Sundays given service to the long-term unit residence at Montrose campus. I always looked forward to his service and found every reason to bring our residence to his Sunday mass.
You will truly be missed.
Sincerely,

Father Hickey was a fair and strong Priest who loved his parish . It was a pleasure to attend his mass and work with him to make St. Mary's a better place. Our family will miss him. When we traveled to Rockland County ,playing other teams in CYO basketball, we would see his Aunt once in awhile. She would ask about him and we gave her a good report. May he rest in peace!

The McHugh family of Wappinger Falls liked Father Hickey very much. He helped make St. Mary's a better parish. Now he will be buried here among the parishioners Father helped serve. His Aunt, who lived in a different parish ,always asked about him when we visited for a basketball game. We always gave her a fine report.
