Obituary of Brent R. Williams

Brent Richmond Williams, a resident of Wappingers Falls, died Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital in Newburgh. He was 73. Son of the late Llewellyn A. and Florence Richmond Williams, he was born December 21, 1940 in Watertown, New York. He served his country in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1968. Dr. Williams worked as a Dentist in Billings, New York for forty years, before he "quit" seven years ago. Brent married the former Janice Woolheiser on April 29, 1966 in Wappingers Falls. Mrs. Williams survives at home in Wappingers Falls. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, spending many happy hours with buddies especially at Lake Ontario and with the Dance Hall Gang in Lithgow. He was a lifetime member of both the Hudson Valley Sportsman Association and the Green Haven Rod and Gun Club. Together with his wife, they enjoyed traveling especially trips off the beaten path. At the suggestion of his wife they tried scuba diving. He became a PADI IDC Staff Instructor; enjoying many hours teaching the sport he grew to love. In addition to his wife of forty-eight years, he is survived by his sons, Christian Williams and his wife, Kristine Wiedemann Williams of Hyde Park and Justin R. Williams and his wife, Aubrey Fox Williams of Chapel Hill, North Carolina; his grandchildren, Emily, Owen, Lily and Fox Richmond Williams who was born May 26, 2014. Brent is the oldest of five sons and is survived by his brothers, Kirk and his wife, Mary Ellen of St. Croix, Virgin Islands, Kevin and his wife, Jenny of Staatsburg and Jeffrey and his wife, Deborah of Wappingers Falls as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Brian Williams. Family will receive friends on Friday, May 30, 2014 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls. A graveside service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 31 at Wappingers Rural Cemetery, West Main Street, Wappingers Falls.
