I realize I don't have to say what a kind, gentle and sincere human being Leonard was. Showing care and compassion in the life he lived. I feel blessed that he ws a cousin I could love and trust. I know Leonard took many confidences with him, as he was a person you could confide in with genuine trust. His presence, his good judgement and his love for family will continue to be felt as part of the legacy he left behind.

It is with heartfelt sympathy to Len's family upon hearing of his passing. As of those who wrote in this book before me, I wholeheartedly agree with everyone. I worked with Len at IBM East Fishkill and he was one of the most kindest, sincerest, politest gentleman you could ever have the privilege of knowing. He will be truly missed. My heart goes out to all of you. God Bless Len !

To begin with, Len is the reason I am alive. But that is just the beginning of my love for him and my respect for him in that he may be the purest of us.
I remember our tennis games, I remember our chats, most of all I remember that I had someone who I was certain I could confide in.
One simple glance at his children sitting in the front row reveals the legacy of this noble man's life. They, along with a wife who tried her best to support him as much as she was able, tell you who he was to them.
As for me, I will cherish some special memories. I will remember the night he pitched against Eddie Reed in a high school playoff game. It was worthy of a world series game. I will remember the day we played tennis and watching us was a young girl named Tawana Brawley, who lived in the apartment complex. I remember running some of his Master's college course requirements through an IBM computer I had access to.
Doris, thank you for your love for him.
To the children: I charge you to embrace his legacy and continue it that you may do according as you go through your lives.
My prayer is that I hope I was and am worthy of having him as my brother.
Finally, I speak for Marge and I, please say the Lord's prayer for him in my name.
Mel

My wife underwent a very serious operation on June 27. I was notified of Len's passing the following morning. I made the decision to stay with her because she was wobbly on her feet and thereby missed my brother's services.
Had I been there I would have bore witness to one of the noblest human beings I have ever met. How good is being alive when one's older brother is first and foremost a friend. In the course of my life, I have formed an honor role of those who have been instrumental in helping me make the changes necessary for me to become a better husband, father and human being. There are several people from this incredible little town in NY we lived in called Pine Plains. Some of them have signed this book. But to finish my point, Len is on my honor role because he was and is a role model for me.
I salute him, I salute his wife, Doris, who stood by him, who suffered with him because she loved him. As I said in my email to my family, one glance at his children tells one everything they need to know about his priorities. Yes, they did the work to get there. But yes, Len is the inspiration. I can only hope that I am able to be worthy of being his brother.
Today the forest has a new space for his children and their children to find their way.
To Doris, Marge and I are with you. Would that we could take away the sting and the hurt and the emptiness. For while we can never fell your loss as you do, we can be there for you if you need us. I love you and thank you for your dedication to him.
To Len's (and my family), no one dies. We simply transcend from here to there. Be therefore worthy to transcend to there where he will be by emulating those qualities that made him Leonard, your father.
To my brother on a personal note, I will keep your memory alive and well as I live out my days to guide me and try to live up to the bar you set.

Hi Melvin and Family,
I recall Leonard always being a gentleman. From High School in Pine Plains in the late 1940s, early 50's when Melvin and Don Cahill and I hung out to IBM days. Leonard would always stop in the hallways to say hello. He was always a special person, quiet, smart, and a snappy dresser. Always smiling! It's been many years since I saw him but will always remember his presence. God Bless Leonard and his wonderful family.
Bob
