Nicolas Poloukhine, 83, passed away on April 5, 2006 at his home in Lagrangeville, after a six month battle with brain cancer.



Born of Russian �migr� parents on November 11, 1922 in Bulgaria, he was raised in France where he finished medical school and neurosurgical training.



In the 1950's, Nicolas emigrated to the United States where he met his wife Olga; they were married in 1960 in Nyack. He spent 30 years as a dedicated neurosurgeon at several area hospitals on Long Island where he will be remembered warmly by patients, staff and colleagues alike. He retired in 1988, spending his time cooking, reading, gardening and traveling to his beloved Turks and Caicos.



Mr. Poloukhine will be remembered by his wife Olga, at home in Lagrangeville; his children, Olga Poloukhine of Manhattan, Michael Poloukhine and his wife, Laura of North Haven, CT., and Elena MacKenzie and her husband, Andrew of Glencove, Long Island; and his grandchildren, Ronan Summers, Chloe Poloukhine, Nicholas Poloukhine, Nina Poloukhine and Ian MacKenzie.



Family will receive their friends on Friday, April 7 at St. Gregory's Church in Wappingers Falls, with a funeral service at 7:30 p.m. A liturgy will also be held on Saturday, April 8 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Kazan Church in Seacliff, Long Island. Interment will follow in Roslyn Cemetery in Roslyn.



In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Nicolas' name to St. Gregory's Church, Route 376, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590.
