Paul P. Kazolias
Paul P. Kazolias entered into rest Sunday, February 21, 2010. He was 22.
Son of Annie Martorano Mekeel and the late Panecea Kazolias, he was born on August 20, 1987 in Poughkeepsie.
Paul graduated from Roy C. Ketcham High School in 2007. While there, he was captain of the track and field team. Most recently, he worked for Fishkill Pump Service in Wappingers Falls. He was also very proudly a member of the United States Air National Guard. Paul had many loves; he loved motorcycles and big trucks, and enjoyed country music and line dancing. Most of all, he loved his friends; he truly touched the hearts of everyone who knew him.
Survivors include his mother, Annie Mekeel and her husband, Scott of Wappingers Falls; grandmother, Cardy Uzzle of Rhinebeck; step-parents, Tad and Paula Uzzle of Wappingers Falls; brothers, Mike Fanelli and his wife, Andrea of Pleasant Valley, and Michael Witson of Wappingers Falls; sisters, Ashley Witson of Wappingers Falls, and Amanda Mekeel of Kansas City; aunts, Denise Skirianos and her husband, Steve of Newburgh, Kim Cafaro of Fishkill, and Lois Sieber of Pennsylvania; uncle, Carlo Todaro and Nancy, and Joey Todaro and Mercy; niece, Cali Anderson of Kansas City; cousins, AnnaMaria, Alexis, Athena, Catherine, Paul, Nicole, Kimberly, Samantha, Andrew-James, Justin, Lauren, Jeffrey and Dilly; all of his extended Kazolias family; and many dear friends, including Bobby Bemis and Vinnie Silvestri, both of Wappingers Falls.
In addition to his father, Paul was predeceased by his grandparents, Sonny and Rose Cafaro.
Family will receive their friends on Wednesday, February 24, 2010 from 3 to 9 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590. A prayer service will take place at 8:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Paul's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
