Obituary of Renate Acker

Obituary Renate Acker Renate Acker, 73, a resident of the Town of Wappinger died peacefully at home with her family and loved ones by her side on Sunday, April 11, 2010. Born on February 18, 1937 in Misselwarden, Germany, she was the daughter of the late Karl and Frieda Grotstuck. She came to the United States when she was 19 in 1956. Renate was happiest at home on the farm in her garden with her pet geese, Willy and Wilma, waddling after her. Renate had a great love for all her animals on the farm especially her German Shepard, Ripper, who was faithfully always by her side watching over her. Renate taught us how to live, love and most of all laugh. We are left with wonderful memories to hold and a love that will never pass away. Our love for Renate will live on not only in heaven but within our hearts. Survivors include her daughter, Debbie Harwood; son-in-law, Michael and granddaughter, Katie of Short Hills, New Jersey. He devoted daughter, Darlene Wollenberg of Wappingers Falls and Jeff Endress who was always there for her and gave her great comfort. Renate thought of Jeff as her own son. She was predeceased by her husband, Harry L. Acker. A celebration of Renate's life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice, 374 Violet Avenue, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601 or Mount Hope Grange, c/o J.
