Obituary of John P. Mordigal

John P. Mordigal John P. Mordigal, a resident of the Town of Poughkeepsie, entered into rest Friday, May 28, 2010 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center, Poughkeepsie. He was 73. Son of the late John W. and Margaret Murray Mordigal, he was born November 27, 1936 in Staten Island. John proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps and was honorably discharged as a Corporal in 1959. On August 3, 1963, he married the former Magdaline Leko at St. Stanislaus Church in Pleasant Valley. Mrs. Mordigal survives at home. Prior to his retirement, John was an electrician with IBEW Local 363 and 215. He was an avid golfer and proud to have two holes in one. He also enjoyed gardening. Most importantly, he was a devoted husband, loving father and proud grandfather. In addition to his wife of forty-six years, he is survived by his children, John J. Mordigal and his wife, Susan of Southbury, Connecticut and Pamela Clarke and her husband, Donald of Deltona, Florida; his grandchildren, David and Jared Mordigal and Samantha, Katherine and William Clarke; and his nephew, Robert Kowalski and his wife, Judy of Poughkeepsie. He was predeceased by his sister, Gwendolyn Kowalski. Family will receive their friends and family Monday, May 31, 2010 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 East Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 1 at St. Martin de Porres Church, 118 Cedar Valley Road, Poughkeepsie. Interment will be at the convenience of the family. Memorial donations may be made in John's name to the National Hemophilia Foundation, 116 West 32nd Street, Floor 11th Floor, New York, New York, 10001.
