Met Chappy unfortunely when John passed. We had quite a discussion as we are both vets of the 156Field Artillery (just 40 years apart). I spent quite a bit of time with him, it was great for me and I hoped helped him some. I even reached out to the 156 Regimental Association for him. I know he shared many a story with them and he is in a picture hanging in the armory. His history will be passed on (everyone knows about the Sandy (the dog he smuggled into Europe). He was one of the great ones... thanks Chappy!!

On behalf of the members of the 156 Field Artillery Veteans Association I wish to extend our deepest sympathies to Bucky's family and friends.
I only met Bucky once, at the retirement of the Battalion colors for the 156 Field Artillery. He told me the story of "Sandy" the little dog that adopted him and C-Battery as they were deploying to the European Theater of Operations.
May God bless and comfort Bucky's family and friends during their time of loss.
ARTILLERYMAN'S PRAYER:
I pray that I may live to shoot until my dying day.
And when it comes to my last round I then must humbly pray.
When in the Lord's great FDC being judged for all I do.
He takes my hand, smiles and says "you're a Redleg through and through".
With lanyard and compass by my side, the Lord speaks these words to me.
"Welcome home, you've served me well, come join my battery".
Rest in Peace, Good Soldiers!
