I wish to extend my sincere condolences to Penny's loved ones. At the beginning of my nursing career I shared in caring for Penny at Vassar Hospital. I have thought of her fondly throughout the years. Jill I remember you sitting at her side every evening. God bless and may Penny rest in peace.

i would like to extend my sympathy to your family. I worked with Penny at Syracuse University when she was a Resident Advisor with us. I have thought of her and your family often over the years. Her bright and wonderful life cut so short. She was so popular and well like at SU by all who met her...she was so generous and good to all of us.

I entered Penny's name on the internet hoping for something different but sadly it brought me here. I think of Penny often around this time of the year. She was my summer friend in Hingham MA. We spent many days on the boat at Hewitts Cove or at the beach jumping off the raft into the jelly fish filled harbor water, but most of our time was spent at the house on Talbot Road eating wonderful food from the garden and having screen house sleepovers in the backyard. When Penny would go home we'd be pen pals until she came back the next summer to visit with her grandparents. Penny would sign each letter by taping a penny at the end. I thought it was so clever. I still do. I have a wonderful photo of Penny, Daina, Kathy and me taken on the boat and it captures every good thing about the time I spent with the O'Kane Family. Penny is a wonderful part of my happiest childhood memories and I have no words to describe the sadness I feel for the loss of this beautiful, special girl.

My memories of Penny are bright and vivid. She was a beautiful, smart, strong, young woman. Like many of the folks who have left thier words here I went to school with Penny at Ketcham, we were in the band together. There are a number of band folks who keep in touch and Penny has been on our minds often. She and John both where terrific people. The loss of that night has echoed over your lives, as well as over our lives and we are all the poorer for the loss, but all the richer for the memories of Penny and John and of the time we shared. My thoughts are with you and your family at this time of loss.

I must have started to write this note a dozen times and more ... each time, the words failing to measure up to how I would have them express my sympathy for your loss and the hardships that you have endured. While looking for those words, other words kept coming to me like... Warmth and Sunshine ... Style and Grace ... Bright-Cheery Smiles and an "All Inclusive-Sensitivity" ... that makes the whole world feel like a member of the O'Kane Family! ... Those are the words ... the ones that make up my memories of Penny .... and John and how the O'Kanes have so Blessed the world ... I shall cherish them in my heart, in my mind and in my prayers forever.
God Bless The O'Kanes

Dear Jill, reading of Penny's death brought back so many memories of time spent in the hospital and then at a nursing home in CT with you and Penny during that awful winter. Your love for her has not been forgotten and continues to be an inspiration to me. I couldn't come to the funeral home because I was visiting David and his family near Philadelphia that weekend. He joins me in sending heartfelt sympathy to you, Marc and the whole family.

I was English teacher of many of the O'Kanes, and remember them well. How saddened we all were about John's passing so many years ago, and now with Penny's passing. I would like to come in person to extend my condolences, but I am sick, so I will send via this note. My deepest condolences to all of you for your loss.
