Obituary of Margaret E. Larsen

Margaret E. "Betty" Larsen Margaret E. "Betty" Larsen of Cortlandt Manor, formerly of Wappingers Falls, entered into rest Sunday, August 6, 2006 at Field Home-Holy Comforter in Corlandt Manor. She was 84. Daughter of the late William and Lucy Merritt Sanderson, she was born on August 19, 1921 in Toronto, Canada. She married Arne H. Larsen on July 2, 1955 in Canada; he precedes her in death, passing on December 26, 1984. Betty worked as a school nurse for John Jay High School for 12 years. She was an active member of the Mended Hearts Association, giving countless hours of volunteer work to the organization. She was also a member of the New Hackensack Reformed Church. Survivors include her son, Steven Larsen and his wife, Cheri of Alexandria, VA; her daughter, Anita Larsen of Somers and her fianc�, Cliff Wiesel of Somerset, NJ; her brother, Robert Sanderson and his wife, Byrle of Stouffville, Ontario; her sisters, Jean O'Neill of Stouffville, Ontario, Marion Lewis of Stouffville, Ontario and Edna Fairless and her husband, Norman of Fordwich, Ontario; her sister-in-law, Doria Sanderson of Riverview, New Brunswick; granddaughter, Erika Larsen; 12 nieces and nephews; several grandnieces and grandnephews; and dozens of friends. She is predeceased by her brother, Allen Sanderson and brother-in-law, Gary Lewis. Family will receive their friends on Wednesday, August 9, 2006 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Straub Funeral Home, 55 E. Main Street, Wappingers Falls, NY 12590. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 10 at 10 a.m. at New Hackensack Reformed Church, Route 376 in Wappingers Falls. Interment will take place at New Hackensack Cemetery at a later date. Memorial donations may be made in Betty's name to the Mended Hearts Association c/o the American Heart Association, PO Box 3049, Syracuse, NY 13220.
